Fleet Formations
As the fleet begins to grow, and we are in contact with
other clans, it is important that we show our strenghts. We have already
demonstrated impecable Diplomatic stratergies, but our combat cannot be
forgotten. Fleet Formations is an ideal way in showing other clans our
strength and discipline. There are three major formations:
Standard Formation
This happens when the Commanding Officer of a game
requests a Standard Formation. The Commanding officer will go to full stop,
or travel in a straight line at a constant speed. The Second-In-Command will
then take the Commanding Officer's Right, and the Third-in-Command to the
left. The picture above demonstrates a typical Standard Formation. FA Jansen
is in the Soverign, ASC Kain is in the Nebula, and Commodore Haywood to the
left. Captain Cortez is behind the CO to flank their rear. When more ships
come into a game, the formation spreads out. Generally, the formation is as
follows. If one of the ranking officers is unavailable, then move in:
Escort Vessel Escort Vessel
Fleet Admiral
Commodore Admiral FC/SC
Captain
Captain Captain
Commander LTC
Lieutenant
Ensign
Ensign Ensign Crewman
Crewman Crewman

Battle Formation
When our Fleet status is at Red Alert. All Hostile
Vessels classifed under the AT WAR section of
FLEET DIPLOMACIES will be
fired upon. Any other ship that takes the opposing side to the SFX (Team 2 or
Non-UFP) will be greeted with Yellow Alert. If a Hostile warps out of a
system, the Reconnaissance Vessels are responsible for warping first, and
report. The Chief Recon Vessel should signal his wing of Recon Vessels to
"engage". Again, if one of the ships below is unavailable, move in:
Chief Hostile
Management Vessel Hostile Management Vessel
Tactical Vessel Chief
Tactical Vessel Tactical Vessel
Escort Vessel Fleet
Admiral Admiral FC/SC Escort Vessel
Chief Diplomatic
Vessel Diplomatic Vessel
Chief Medical Vessel
Chief Astrometrics Vessel Medical Vessel

Haywood Formation
Used to protect a damaged vessel, ally, or vessel under
heavy fire. Ships are to go to Red Alert automatically when the Haywood
Formation is called. This formation is named after Admiral Haywood for his
idea. Since there is no time for calling out "orderly" format when a vessel
is under attack, vessels are to scramble to an available position. The CO
will be, of course, directing operations. If there are more than 8 vessels
present, then all other ships are to take an active stance against the
Hostile.
